Name of organisation:Mahila Punarvaas Samooh Samiti Jaipur

My name is Pushpa Saini. Currently I am working with Mahila Punarvas Samooh Samiti,Jaipur. My educational qualifications are M.A in Hindi, LLB, B.Ed, Masters in Social Work and Diploma in Yoga and Naturopathy. Being the eldest child in the family I got married in 2002,soon after completion of M.A. I was not satisfied with my status of just being a house wife. I used to feel frustrated thinking that that I have been the student of prestigious Kanodia College and a student of Renuka Pamecha. Why should I sit at home with out doing any thing for the society. The time we kept moving and I became mother of a male child. The attitude of my husband was highly insensitive. He tried to crush all my emotions. I had suffered severe violence in my matrimonial house. After some time I delivered another female child. My in-laws thought, now she is the mother of two children so she will be confined to the four walls of this house. I did not give up and once again started my studies.

In 2008 I got the opportunity to link up with Renuka ji and stared working as a counsellor in Mahila Salah evam Suraksha kendra, Jaipur. Before this I already had a fight with my husband and I was living separately. After few years my husband regretted for his behaviour and I decided to live with him, but his behaviour did not change and ultimately I had to revert my decision of living with him. I really had to struggle hard to educate my child and to earn our livelihood.Despite of all this I am prepared to help distressed women and children. During the counselling I have noticed the problems of Muslim women and decided to work with them. I think this is the group that is always neglected and at the periphery. Their problems are: poverty, illiteracy, triple talaq, purda, polygamy and denied of their maintenance expenditure. They are also denied of their rights in the garb of religion. In the center besides counselling we help them in getting free legal aid, filling of FIRs ,psychological counselling and medical checkups in case of any injury. Our objective is to empower women to the extent that they can take their own decision.I wish that my life should be devoted to help the distressed women and children. I will always be willing to do this.
